A Fascinating Novel About Family, Love and Pioneer History -- Northwest Author Lester Fulford Kramer Weaves a Wonderful Tale of a Family of Seven and Their Journey West to Begin a New Life

SEATTLE, March 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- A family of seven leave their home and prosperity in Missouri to travel West on the Oregon Trail, seeking new land and opportunity in the Oregon Territory. Discover why a lovely young woman becomes the reluctant Pioneer Lady in Lester Fulford Kramer's intriguing and well-researched historical novel.

Pioneer Lady unfolds through the eyes of 18-year-old Eddie, the older brother of Stella Thorne. Their father Culver Thorne, inspired by Marcus Whitman, decides to move his family out West along the Oregon Trail. Stella is the reluctant pioneer lady. A young, but experienced pioneer, Jeff Moorfield, is persuaded to guide the family's caravan when the original captain becomes ill and dies. Moorfield then vies with Virginian Joel Hallor for Stella's affections all the way to Oregon.

A rich tapestry of family relationships, humor and adventure, Pioneer Lady provides an entertaining read. As the family of seven try to survive a difficult journey to a new life, treachery arises in the form of unsavory characters who, lusting for gold, cross paths with their caravan. And conflict builds between the captain and the Southerner as Pioneer Lady captures your imagination to the very end of the story.
