ATMI, Inc. and Anji Microelectronics Launch Alternative, Cost-Efficient Aluminum Cleans Product

IDEAL Clean Advanced Performance Cleaning Targets China Market

SHANGHAI, China, March 19, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATMI) and Anji Microelectronics today announced the commercial launch of the IDEAL Clean(tm) advanced performance cleans, a superior post-etch, post-ash aluminum cleans chemistry that meets or exceeds the performance of hydroxylamine-based chemistries at significantly lower cost of ownership.

"The successful launch of the IDEAL Clean aluminum stripper process reflects the strategy of our two companies to focus on improving our customer's efficiencies," said Shumin Wang, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer, Anji Microelectronics. "Our partnership combines world class standards of quality and performance with state-of-the-art local development, manufacturing, and support. This unique combination allows us to offer superior value to our customers with significant cost benefits. The ATMI/Anji partnership is building momentum toward reaching a broader base of customers with additional chemistries that enable improved performance as well as process solutions that lower our customers' overall operating costs."

John Bubel, Director of ATMI's Surface Preparation group, said, "The IDEAL Clean solution is a significant entrant into the aluminum cleans area and offers our customers an additional choice to existing products. Combining outstanding process performance with a substantially reduced cost of ownership relative to HDA-based products, the IDEAL Clean advanced performance cleans brings ATMI's commitment to process efficiency solutions to this longstanding market."

ATMI and Anji entered into a joint development agreement in 2005 to engage in development and marketing efforts around advanced materials used in the copper and other integrated circuit fabrication processes.
