FINNAIR PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 21 MARCH 2007 AT1600 ISLANDIC SIGURDUR HELGASON NOMINEE FOR FINNAIR BOARD Islandic FL Group h.f. has announced to the company that it will propose the election of Sigurdur Helgason to the Finnair Plc Board of Directors in the Annual General Meeting instead of previously announced Hannes Smarason. Helgason is the former CEO of Icelandair and is independent of Finnair Plc owners. “According to FL Group's proposal, Helgason would be a neutral member of the Board and a clear majority of Finnair owners is ready to accept the proposal. He has strong experience from the industry and building gateway traffic. Icelandair has a similar network strategy towards the west as Finnair has from Europe to Asia,” says President of the Finnair Plc Board of Directors Christoffer Taxell. “There were conflicts of interest related to FL Group's previous nominee for the Board of Directors because FL Group has an ownership connection to Sterling airline, which is a competitor of Finnair subsidiary FlyNordic. This conflict of interest disappeared with FL Group's new proposal,” Taxell states. Of the previous Board Members up for election to the Finnair Board of Directors are Kalevi Alestalo, Satu Huber, Markku Hyvärinen, Kari Jordan, Ursula Ranin, Veli Sundbäck and Christoffer Taxell. To participate in the Finnair Annual General Meeting, FL Group has registered a 17.35 per cent ownership in Finnair. Finnair Plc Communications 21.3.2007
