Horse Country Meets Up With Wine Country At Galway Downs

TEMECULA, Calif., March 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Horse Country meets up with Wine Country at Galway Downs for the FEI Eventing World Cup on March 30 to April 1, 2007.

An international field, which includes more than 300 riders from around the world and their very talented horses, will compete for points, prestige and prizes at Galway Downs, a world class equestrian facility in Temecula that sits in the heart of the 2,000-acre Valle de los Caballos (Valley of the Horses).

The event this year will also include a touch of nearby Wine Country. Keyways Vineyard & Winery will be pouring its wine and offering its Wine Club members VIP seating at the FEI Eventing World Cup.

"Given our proximity to Wine Country it's only natural that we reach out to our neighbors," said Robert Kellerhouse, event organizer. "What better way to enjoy this world class equestrian event than with a glass of award-winning Chardonnay or Merlot."

On Saturday, spectators can pick up a picnic lunch for two and head out to watch the exciting Cross Country competition. Enjoy a smoked chicken salad and a tri-tip sandwich, bottle of Chardonnay or sparkling water, pasta salad, fruit and a cookie.

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. sit down to Presto's catered cuisine at the Keyways Wine Pairing Luncheon in the VIP tent.

The buffet menu includes apricot baked brie in puff-pastry, scallops spanini, pork loin with prosciutto, sage and Asiago cheese, wild duxelle stuffed chicken with a roasted vegetable au-jus as well as an assortment of breads and accompaniments, salads and desserts.

Keyways wines served with the meal will be Merlot 2004, Chardonnay 2005, Sauvignon Blanc 2005, and Frolich 2003, a versatile red wine that is made entirely from Lemberger grapes, a little known varietal native to Austria. The wine was a favorite of Napoleon Bonaparte.

VIP tickets for each weekend event are $55 per person and include admission, VIP parking, lunch, wine, beer and soft drinks.
