On March 28, 2007, the Council of the Public Utility Commission approved the natural gas tariffs requested by the JSC “Latvijas Gāze”. They will be enacted as from May 1, 2007 and their increase will be by 23% - 32% depending of consumption group of customers. Previously, a greater increase was requested, but, on the basis of adjustments during review of the project and considering the unaudited financial report 2006 of the Company, appendices to the tariff project were prepared lowering the increase. The tariff project submitted in January envisaged increase of tariffs by 38 - 40%. The tariff project was submitted because as from January 1, 2007 gas purchase price for the JSC “Latvijas Gāze” increased. Comparing the approved tariffs and the tariffs that were enacted in July 2006, the diference will be 15% -23% as during the previous 5 months the tariffs decreased due to decrease of heavy fuel oil prices in oil product exchanges.
