About the Author

Barbara A. Pierce was born in Memphis, Tennessee where she lived until moving to New York City at the age of eleven. She attended junior high school there, then high school in Mount Vernon, New York. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator for two and a half years before entering College in Pennsylvania. Upon receiving a degree in education, Miss Pierce began her career as an elementary school teacher in Mount Vernon that lasted for thirty-five years. It was during that time she pursued and earned a Masters Degree in education and reading. Since retiring in 2003, Miss Pierce has worked as a substitute teacher and has written three books of poetry. This is the first one to be published. Her name has appeared in Who's Who In American Education Publications, and recently in the 2006-2007, Seventh Edition.
