CO2 Believes Report of UN Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change Will Help Regions Facing Climate Change Risks

LONDON, April 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- CO2 Tech President, Ms. Helga Schotten, today announced that CO2 Tech Ltd. (Pink Sheets:CTTD) believes that the recent report published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will encourage more companies to offer assistance to mitigate the effects of climate changes in the world's poorest regions.

On April 6, over 200 scientists participated in the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which published a 1,572-page report considered to be an accurate representation of current scientific understanding of the causes and consequences of global warming. The panel predicted that global warming will be the cause of droughts in southern Europe and the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, the American Southwest and Mexico, and flooding in other regions. The report stressed that many of the regions facing the greatest risks were among the world's poorest, and these regions make national-level adjustments to climate changes to mitigate the destructive effects of global warming.

The report, which also called to limit smokestack and tailpipe emissions, is expected to be influential in upcoming international talks over climate treaties, especially the Kyoto Protocol, whose binding limits on emissions expire in 2012.

"We believe that the Panel report makes it clear to more people that global warming requires more than merely restricting emissions. There are several regions in the world that face enormous risks in the foreseeable future. The residents in these regions have almost non-existent resources for investment. CO2 Tech is proud to participate in several UN-funded projects designs to mitigate the effects of climate change on populations, such as Ethiopia and Guyana, and hopes that other companies with expert knowledge in the field will consider participation in such international projects," says Helga Schotten, President of CO2 Tech.

The report will also be discussed at the upcoming G8 summit this summer, and intensive efforts are expected to be made to obtain widespread support for cutting greenhouse gas emissions in industrial countries.
