FCIA to Showcase End-to-End NPIV Solutions At SNW

Leading Vendors Come Together At SNW to Demonstrate Fibre Channel Leadership


SAN DIEGO, April 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD -- The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) today announced that it will showcase an end-to-end N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) demonstration (Booth G-22) from a broad range of leading vendors and solution providers at Storage Networking World (SNW), which will be held April 16 - 19, 2007 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, California.

The end-to-end NPIV demonstration will comprise of leading Fibre Channel vendors showcasing their support for the virtualization technology as it relates to their products and solutions. In addition, the FCIA has invited Novell to participate in this demo to showcase their software and support the overall demo.

About the FCIA NPIV Demo

The FCIA demonstration showcases how storage administrators can deploy multiple virtual machines (VMs) in a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environment and utilize NPIV technology to increase availability and security, while simplifying SAN management. Using the Novell ZENworks Orchestrator and Virtual Machine Management tool, the participating vendors can create a real world server configuration leveraging their company products.

In addition to FCIA demonstrations, leading members of the organization including Tom Hammond-Doel, Senior Alliance Manager, Engenio Storage Group, LSI, M. K. Jibbe, Manager and Test Architect Lead, Engenio Storage Group, LSI, and Steven Wilson, Director of Technology and Standards, Brocade Communications, Inc. will be speaking on current and future Fibre Channel technologies on Monday, April 16th from 2:50 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. in the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Tutorial Track at SNW.
