Northrop Grumman Recognizes 71 Suppliers With Gold Award for Excellence in Quality of Products, Services

REDONDO BEACH, Calif., April 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today recognized the contributions of 71 suppliers that surpassed the company's high expectations by continuing to improve the quality of products and services they delivered in 2006.

Those companies were presented Gold Supplier awards by Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector at its annual Supplier Day conference in Long Beach, Calif. The day-long conference had a theme of "Trusted Supply Base -- Raising the Bar on Supplier Performance."

"The performance of our suppliers continues to improve every year. Once again we've raised the bar and tightened standards, including those set for ourselves. This distinguished group of suppliers demonstrated the ability to deliver products on schedule with the highest quality that will help ensure mission success to nationally and globally critical systems our U.S. government has entrusted us with," said Alexis Livanos, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector.

The sector's rigorous supplier rating program generates an ongoing assessment of supplier performance. At the end of each year, Gold suppliers are selected on the basis of a scorecard that rates each company's management, quality, technical, schedule and financial performance. Gold status places those honored in a select group of Northrop Grumman Space Technology suppliers, allowing them to form relationships with key members of the sector's management team, to gain insight into new project opportunities and to be exposed to Northrop Grumman Space Technology's best practices.

"Our dependence on and expectations for our key suppliers continue to grow -- both in terms of their share of our business and by virtue of our strategic sourcing initiatives," said Jim Myers, vice president of Payloads and Sensors. "Our 2007 Gold winners have demonstrated the kind of ongoing commitment to performance necessary to meet our standards and those set by our customers."

"Contract wins across Northrop Grumman set a record in 2006, resulting in the highest total backlog in the company's history," said John Daegele, vice president of Production and Supply Chain. "Performance exhibited by our Gold award recipients helps fuel current program performance, a key ingredient in winning new business, and growth remains a major strategic thrust for Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector in 2007."
