Nidec Unveils 'UltraFlo' Cooling Fan Series

KYOTO, Japan, April 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Nidec Corporation today unveiled its new cooling fan series "UltraFlo" geared toward a wide variety of information technology applications.

Today's increasingly powerful servers, PCs and digital consumer electronics have resulted in increased heat outputs from their densely packaged microprocessors or compact electronic systems. Thermal cooling efficiency directly relates to the life expectancy of electronic devices, and demand has never been greater for energy efficient cooling fans that deliver higher airflow and higher static pressure at an almost inaudible decibel level.

Nidec UltraFlo is a dedicated cooling solution that meets challenging heat removal requirements by achieving industry-leading levels of cooling performance and operating quietness. The UltraFlo series currently comes in 23 models: 8 built with newly developed sleeve bearings (NBRX*) and 15 with ball bearings. Nidec has begun mass-producing the UltraFlo series in China and Vietnam and plans to ship 50 million units in FY2007 and 80 million units in FY2008.

*NBRX is an oil-impregnated, sintered-metal sleeve bearing unit developed from Nidec's NBR (Nidec Bearing Revolution) technology. NBRX uses lubricant oil highly resistant to heat and evaporation and is significantly less subject to wear. Strong vertical magnetic force maintains the spin axis orientation, enabling extremely low vibration in high speed rotation range.
