Glendale Adventist Medical Center Opens New West Tower Making It the Largest Hospital in the San Fernando Valley

GLENDALE, Calif., April 27, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Glendale Adventist Medical Center is pleased to announce the grand opening celebration of its new state-of-the-art West Tower on Sunday, April 29, Noon to 4 p.m. The West Tower features 60 new patient beds, including: a family-centered, 12-bed ICU; larger patient rooms with Internet workstations; a new and expanded emergency department; state-of the-art technology; and much more.

At 190,000 square feet, the West Tower is the largest component of the GAMC multi-year campus expansion project, and is expected to be open to patients this Summer.

The West Tower project was planned to help meet the demands of the aging patient population and to implement emerging technologies to better serve the community.

The new Emergency Department has significantly increased capacity to provide better access and faster service to patients. Included are a dedicated CT scanner and digital X-ray room to expedite critical diagnostic testing, and a FastTrack for urgent care. An express elevator within the department is devoted to the transport of patients from the Emergency Department to the new Cardiac Catheterization Labs and Operating Rooms to assist with providing faster care for the most critical patients.

Throughout the planning process, much attention and consideration was given to providing for the comfort and needs of both patients and families. Most of the patient rooms in the West Tower are private and offer special amenities such as day beds, Internet workstations, and large windows.

GAMC prides itself on providing the most technologically advanced care possible. The operating rooms and imaging services in the new West Tower are no exception. Six spacious surgical suites will open, including two dedicated to cardiovascular and neurological surgery and two specially equipped for orthopedic procedures. Outpatient imaging, laboratory and cardiac testing services are now housed in one central location for patient convenience and greater efficiency. The latest diagnostic equipment will be available to patients.

Significant areas of the West Tower will be dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiac and neurological disease. As part of the state-of-the-art emergency services, GAMC is proud to offer a Stroke Center with specialists focusing on timely and comprehensive treatment of patients with stroke and other neurological conditions.

The Heart and Vascular Institute at GAMC will be housed on the third floor and will feature the latest cardiac catheterization laboratories, which will provide comprehensive treatment for heart disease.

The completion of the tower marks a significant landmark in the medical center's continuing mission to share God's love with its community by promoting healing and wellness for the whole person.
