ATMI and Anji Copper/Barrier Slurries Selected by Major Chipmaker

ATMI and Anji Microelectronics Introduce High Volume Copper/Barrier CMP Slurry

DANBURY, Conn., April 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATMI) and Anji Microelectronics today announced a major chip manufacturer has adopted their Copper/Barrier chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurry for high volume production.

"For copper interconnect, ATMI has the most comprehensive materials offerings and expertise designed to improve process efficiency by speeding time-to-market and lowering cost of ownership for our customers. This, our first win for high volume production of our advanced Copper/Barrier CMP slurries, is also the first in a series of solutions that ATMI and Anji plan to introduce designed to remove the multiple inefficiencies in the CMP process - one of the most expensive materials processes in integrated circuit production," said Doug Neugold, President and Chief Executive Officer of ATMI.

"The ATMI/Anji partnership is building customer momentum with advanced slurries that offer process tunability and flexibility while lowering overall operating costs. Our technical expertise and state-of-the-art development facilities, manufacturing, and support allow us to offer superior value to customers," said Chris Yu, Chief Executive Officer of Anji Microelectronics.

ATMI and Anji entered into a joint development agreement in 2005 to develop and market advanced materials used in copper and other integrated circuit fabrication processes.
