About National Police Week

President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as "Police Week." Since then, thousands of law enforcement officers convene in Washington, DC to honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The National Peace Officers' Memorial Service has become one in a series of events which includes the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund's Candlelight Vigil and seminars sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors.

About the TASER Foundation

Established in November 2004, the TASER Foundation for Fallen Officers has distributed $1.3 million dollars to over 375 families in the United States and Canada. The TASER Foundation is unique as it provides immediate benefits to families in the United States and Canada from federal, state, county, and local law enforcement organizations. In addition, its program is designed to fill the gap between an officer's death and when pensions and other benefits begin. In most cases a grant request is processed within 24 hours of receipt.
