Bayfield Ventures Announces Rainy River Diamond Drilling to Commence on Block 'B' in May, NW Ontario

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 2, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Bayfield Ventures Corp. (TSX-V:BYV) (Frankfurt:B4N) announces the successful completion of its winter exploration program on its Block "B" project in the Rainy River area, northwestern Ontario. The Block "B" property is located in Richardson Township adjacent to the immediate east of Rainy River Resources new gold discovery area including the ODM zone, No. 17 zone and the 433 zone.

A ground grid totaling 38 km was established on the property and was covered with a horizontal loop electromagnetic survey and a magnetometer survey. The property was surveyed in a tight grid fashion with lines at 50 metre intervals to allow the Company to collect the maximum of geophysical data as needed to establish a detailed diamond drill program for spring / summer 2007.

The magnetic survey data clearly demonstrates the location and trend of a mafic/ultramafic geological unit known to exist on the Block "B" property. More importantly, the magnetic data delineates several cross cutting faults that offset or displace the mafic/ultramafic rocks here. Several moderate to strong bedrock conductors have also been identified with the horizontal loop electromagnetic survey. These important conductors correspond to areas of faulting and the margins of the mafic/ultramafic unit.

The Company has also just completed an overburden drill program on the Block "B" project, with tills sampled at 13 drill sites on the property using a reverse circulation drill. Average depth of samples taken on the "B" Block is approximately 25 metres below surface. Twenty till samples were taken with 6 till samples assaying from 150 ppb gold to in excess of 32,000 ppb gold have been identified by Overburden Drilling Management Ltd Laboratory. These samples are located just down ice from two of the strong conductors identified on Block "B" and appear related to a north-northeast trending crosscutting structure.

Bayfield Ventures believes that the coincidence of geological structure, bedrock conductivity, and strongly anomalous gold in till suggest these targets have very high potential to host gold mineralization. The Company is of the opinion that the moderate to strong conductors associated with the mafic/ultramafic rocks are similar to the No. 433 zone and the No. 17 zone on the adjoining Rainy River Resources property.

A drill program consisting of 5 - 6 holes is planned as an initial test of both the structural and conductive settings on the property. The drill program will commence end of May, 2007.

Bayfield Ventures Corp. is actively involved in the exploration for gold in northwestern Ontario and copper-gold and coal in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. Property partners include Goldcorp and BHP Billiton.
