Reykjavik, 3 May 2007, Bakkavör Group (ICEX: BAKK) has further strengthened its Continental European operations with the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of 4G, a French prepared salads provider. The Group's aim is to integrate the business into its existing fresh prepared salads business in France, Cinquieme Saison. The acquisition will strengthen the Group's relationships with the French retailers, increase production capacity and offer synergistic benefits. 4G is primarily a private label supplier but has also achieved considerable success with its “Vert Desire” brand. It has a turnover of €26.3 million and trades with all the major French retailers. The business, which was founded in 2002, has one production facility in Macon, 70km north of Lyon in France and employs 165 people. The consideration price, which remains confidential, was financed through and paid by the Group's own cash resources. 4G will be consolidated into the Group from the acquisition date, but the acquisition will not have a material effect on the Group's financial results during this financial year.
