JSC “Laima” audited results for 2006 show 15% increase in turnover, reaching 27,47 million lats, thus for the fourth year company's turnover has exceeded previous year's. In 2006 company's export volumes increased by 7%. In comparison with 2005, the audited gross profit of JSC “Laima” has increased by 15% reaching 7,17 million lats. The company concluded the year with the net profit of 1,35 million lats. “2006 was a successful year for us. A lot has been invested in development, new products have been introduced in market, we have entered and grew in new export markets. In our daily operations effort is made is made for “Laima” and its subsidiary companies in the Baltic and Central Europe region to develop and collaborate with other companies of the concern “NP Confectionary AB”, notes Normunds Ozoliņš, chairman of the board of JSC “Laima”. The concern of JSC “Laima”, which also includes its subsidiary companies, in 2006 increased its turnover by 19,1% reaching a turnover of 33,3 million lats. Due to investments made by concern aimed at further expansion in Estonian and Lithuanian markets, 2006 was concluded with loss of 35,4 thousand lats. “In 2006 work on more rapid development of “Laima” subsidiary companies in the neighboring countries was expanded. In order to increase our product sales, major investments were made in marketing activities of AS “Laima Eesti” and UAB “Laima Lita”. As a result, we have increased our sales there,” continues Normunds Ozoliņs. At the same time, our subsidiary company SIA “Euro Food” has started active operation in these neighboring countries.” In June 2006 SIA “Euro Food” for 410 thousand lats acquired Estonian instant and frozen food producer “Aston Food” operations of which will be ceased in 2007 as “Euro Food” moves to direct operations in Estonian market. In April 2007 Lithuanian producer of instant and frozen food “Margiris” was acquired for 2.8 million euro. Future plans - growth In 2007 JSC “Laima” and the related subsidiary companies plan to proceed with the modernization of equipment and technologies, at the same time consolidating their position in the Baltic market and expanding in Central Europe markets.
