Huhtamaki grows in South-East Asia - new facility in Thailand

Huhtamaki continues to develop its position as a leading consumer
packaging company in the emerging Asian market. Huhtamaki will
establish a new manufacturing facility close to the existing plant in
Samutsakorn Industrial Estate in Bangkok to supply the local food and
consumer goods industry with advanced flexibles packaging."We already have a solid position in Asia, but actively look for new
opportunities to develop growth platforms. This market is growing
rapidly, over 10 percent per year and we want to make investments in
order to capture the growth", says CEO Heikki Takanen."This project will strengthen our position and our existing customer
portfolio as well as support exports of Thailand's growing
food-related segments", tells Maurice Petitjean, Executive Vice
President, Flexibles, Films and Molded Fiber Europe.

According to the preliminary schedule the new facility would commence
production in the summer 2008. The value of the investment is
approximately EUR 17 million.
