TASER Device Ends Violent Suicide Attempt

WASHINGTON, May 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to reports from the Morning Star out of Vernon, British Columbia, a Howard House resident with a desire to die at the hands of police was taken into custody Saturday evening after screaming at the staff, smashing a window, throwing furniture through the window, and cutting his wrists with the glass. Police were called to the shelter for homeless individuals around 8:45 p.m. after receiving reports about a drunk male who "went berserk." While a staff member coaxed the resident out of his room, police snuck up behind and used a TASER electronic control device to subdue the man who they then learned had been concealing a knife.

"The man was crazy, very violent and threatening people," said Cpl. Henry Proce. "If it wasn't for the TASER, how would we have taken him into custody?"

The man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital where he is undergoing a mental health assessment.
