Northrop Grumman Awarded Air Force Contract to Improve Data Availability for Weapons Systems

HERNDON, Va., May 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. Air Force has selected a team led by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) to provide sustaining engineering services for the management of technical data at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman's Technical Services sector will lead the team in digitizing technical orders and manuals, performing data mining and validation, and sustaining the Air Force's Central Technical Order Repository, an integrated technical data environment that provides for easy access and retrieval. Work includes improving availability of data for all weapon systems supported by the Ogden Air Logistics Center, including the A-10, F-16 and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. The $8 million contract has a nine-month base period with three one-year options.

Teammates are Select Engineering Services of Ogden, Utah, and Information Handling Services of Englewood, Colo.

"With this work, we're ensuring that accurate and timely technical data is available to the warfighter at an affordable cost," said Larry Wingate, director of the Fleet Sustaining Engineering at Northrop Grumman's Technical Services sector. "This win is an important step in executing our strategy to provide comprehensive digital technical data capabilities to our military customers."

The contract expands Northrop Grumman's digital technical data support and services provided to military customers. In 1992, the company began providing digital technical data expertise to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and has since extended its support to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Headquarters Air Force Material Command, Ogden Air Logistics Center and BAE Systems.
