A Poet Emerges From the Darkness Telling Tales of Stunning Beauty

NEW BRITAIN, Conn., May 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Timeless themes will always entice readers, especially tales of heroism, gallantry, and nobility that echo the epic works of the classic poets of long ago. What brought life to those literary creations of the past, was the rhythmic power of language, an art form which author Patrick Joseph Sullivan revives as Xlibris proudly releases his compelling new book Trail Songs.

Trail Songs is a shining tribute to the oral tradition that storytellers employed in ancient times as a means to relay the literary gems of previous generations. This book focuses on Conn and Shannon, two adventurers who enjoy daytrips in the great outdoors. During their journeys they engage in the art of telling stories to each other, and by reading the fruit of their efforts, the reader will be drawn into the wonder of fantastical worlds.

Behind the stories, heroism is the central theme, and it is showcased as the product of conscience and courage as defined by character. Another key theme is nobility of soul that is attained only through selfless service to others and sometimes at great cost to the hero. Not to be outdone however is the rhythmic power of language as expressed in a style similar to the creations of the classic poets of history, which readers will find amazing.

With its unique content and style, readers will find Trail Songs a very exceptional book that provides a refreshing departure from the pedestrian offerings of pulp fiction. Its collection of stories will inspire all readers as it satisfies the human need to explore fantastical stories that are both exotic and credible. Ultimately Sullivan's book stands in stark contrast to the rising popularity of the anti-hero style of literature that predominated in the cultural life of America for the last several decades. For your reading pleasures, Trail Songs is now available online at Xlibris.com and at major booksellers and libraries all across America! You will love this book!

About the Author

After a career in business, the author decided to return to an old passion, the art of telling stories. He had written for literary journals in college and had never lost his love for an entrancing tale. Then one-day heart failure occurred, and his life changed dramatically. Eventually the condition forced him to retire from his business career, and that is when he decided to return to the art of telling stories. This book represents his first attempt to entice readers into another world. Hopefully the attempt will not be his last. The author lives in Connecticut with his wife and two sons.
