Foundry Networks and Avaya Conduct Joint Seminar at Interop Las Vegas 2007 Examining Intelligent Convergence

Seminar Explores Competitive Advantages of Intelligent, Open Convergence

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r) Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, and Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, today announced they will conduct a joint seminar during Interop Las Vegas 2007 examining intelligent network convergence. Titled, "Creating Competitive Advantage Through Intelligent Open Convergence," the seminar is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Mandalay Bay Convention Center Ballroom L.

Today, enterprises are using their converged voice and data networks as strategic assets to improve business productivity, speed customer responsiveness, reduce operational costs and enable new applications and processes that create competitive differentiation. Intelligent convergence ties communications applications to enterprise processes, transforming how a business manages critical events, improving operational efficiency and creating a more agile and responsive organization.

Panel speakers Bob Schiff, vice president and general manager, enterprise business unit for Foundry Networks, and Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya, will discuss the networking foundation and applications needed to enable intelligent convergence and the benefits of integrated communications and business processes built upon an open and standards-based voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure.

"Enterprises realize that Intelligent Communications applications can differentiate them from the competition, while also delivering added value to their bottom line," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "They are able to link communications platforms so they can interoperate seamlessly, quickly resolve issues when they arise and readily deliver critical information to employees and customers regardless of where they are or how they prefer to communicate."

"More and more enterprises are updating their existing networks with converged infrastructures," said Bob Schiff, vice president and general manager, enterprise business unit for Foundry Networks. "In order to be successful, it is important that enterprises understand the networking foundation and application components needed to enable intelligent convergence and achieve the full benefits of a converged communications solution. Seminar attendees will learn about the key issues to be addressed and the best practices for implementing a secure and reliable unified network."
