PHA Commission Considers Bayport Projects

More Than $2 Million in Contract Amendments and Bids


HOUSTON, May 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Port Commission of The Port of Houston Authority (PHA) will consider more than $2 million in contract amendments and bids and proposals for projects related to the Bayport Terminal Complex Phase 1 on Tuesday, May 22, beginning at 9 a.m. in the board room of the PHA Executive Building, 111 East Loop North (Exit 29 off Loop 610) in Houston. Chairman Jim Edmonds will preside over the meeting with Commissioner Steve Phelps, Commissioner Jim Fonteno, Commissioner Kase Lawal, Commissioner Jimmy Burke, Commissioner Janiece Longoria and Commissioner Elyse Lanier.

BAYPORT MATTERS

(Agenda G13) Commissioners are being asked to approve execution of a change order to Terracon Consultants, Inc., for Bayport Terminal Complex Phase 1 -- Cruise Terminal materials testing in the amount of $470,400.

(Agenda G14) The Commission is being asked to approve execution of a change order to Orion Construction, LP, for Bayport Cruise Terminal Complex Phase 1 -- Wharf and Dredging for $133,120.

(Agenda G15) Commissioners are being asked to approve execution of a change order to Morganti Texas, Inc., for Bayport Cruise Terminal Complex -- Phase 1 Terminal Building in the credit amount of $25,000.

(Agenda G16) The Commission is being asked to approve amending the contract with L. A. King Company for Stage 2 Gate Control System for Bayport Terminal for $250,000.

(Agenda K2) Commissioners are being asked to approve advertising and receiving competitive sealed proposals for Bayport Marine Gate Expansion, Stage 2 -- canopies, lane booths and pedestals at an estimated $700,000 to $1,000,000.

(Agenda K3) The Commission is being asked to approve advertising and receiving competitive sealed proposals for Bayport Marine Gate Expansion, Stage 2 -- installation of two platform scales at an estimated $130,000 to $175,000.

SECURITY MATTERS

(Agenda K1) Commissioners are being asked to approve advertising and receiving competitive sealed proposals for security equipment at entry/exit gates at Barbours Cut Terminal at an estimated $240,000 to $280,000.

TARIFF MATTERS

(Agenda M4) The Commission is being asked to approve amending port authority tariff No.14 by adding rules and regulations governing preventing, detecting, controlling, and fighting of fires at Barbours Cut Terminal.

TERMINAL OPERATIONS MATTERS

(Agenda G6) The Commission is being asked to approve awarding of a contract to Navis LLC for providing annual maintenance service to the software applications used for terminal operations and billing at $296,000.

ACCOUNTING MATTERS

(Agenda G9) Commissioners are being asked to approve awarding of a bank depository contract to JPMorgan Chase Bank for an operating bank for a four-year period, effective July 14, 2007.
