Foundry Participates in the Future of IP Video Security Solutions Panel At Interop Las Vegas 2007

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced it's participation in the IPVS (IP Video Security) Magazine panel entitled, "The Future of IP Video Security Solutions: Defining the new Role of IT" on May 22, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. in the Mandalay Bay Breaker B conference room.

Video surveillance technology is rapidly migrating into the IT realm, making it an important topic for IT professionals who, until now, have not had to manage the physical security of their organization. This session defines components of an IP video surveillance solution to help attendees understand its growing importance to IT professionals. The video surveillance market has been broken into a reference architecture of five interoperable platforms-surveillance, switches, servers, software and storage, which are the core systems necessary to design, build and support IP video security. Attendees will hear a panel discussion of industry leaders from each of the five core platforms define their products and discuss how IT based technologies deliver a higher quality of physical security than analog CCTV systems.

Moderated by Keven Marier, founder and editor-in-chief for IPVS Magazine, the panel will include industry leaders from Foundry Networks, Network Appliance, IBM, Axis Communications and Milestone Systems. Representing Foundry Networks is Val Oliva, director of product management. Oliva is also a board member and secretary of the Ethernet Alliance Organization, and Chair of the Marketing Committee for Power Over Ethernet/Power Over Ethernet Plus (PoE/PoE+). Before 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) was a standard, Oliva lead the 10 Gigabit Ethernet efforts at Foundry. Oliva was a 10GEA Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors with the 10GEA, and the Chair of the 10GEA Technical Committee. Oliva led the efforts to demonstrate the first and the largest 10GbE network vendor interoperability.

"It's fitting during this panel discussion to have Foundry Networks, the best-in-class PoE switch manufacturer, represented in the most demanding PoE industry; IP Video Security," said Keven Marier, founder and editor-in-chief for IPVS Magazine. "The Foundry FastIron GS supports 48 ports of Class 3 PoE, the highest Class 3 PoE port density in its class, making it an ideal switching solution for the emerging IP video security market."
