Foundry Networks Demonstrates the Latest in Ethernet Technology With the Ethernet Alliance At Interop Las Vegas 2007

Foundry and the Ethernet Alliance Showcases Support and Interoperability for PoE, 10 Gigabit Ethernet Copper (RJ 45), 10GbE LRM for Use With FDDI-grade Fiber, and Data Center

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 21, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced it will demonstrate support and interoperability for 10GBASE-LRM, PoE, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) Copper (RJ 45) and Data Center at Interop Las Vegas 2007, May 22-24 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Booth No. 2265. By providing confirmed interoperability, organizations can benefit from 10GbE technology to deliver high-performance data networking and low latency clustering for today's and tomorrow's rigorous networking demands.

Foundry, in participation with the Ethernet Alliance(r), will showcase the latest in Ethernet technologies at Interop Las Vegas, including 10GBASE-LRM, 10GBASE-T, Backplane Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE) plus and Data Center. Ethernet Alliance members will demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability for 10GBASE-KR, 10GBASE-LRM, 10GBASE-T and PoE plus. These technologies are based on recently completed or emerging Ethernet standards - taking Ethernet into data centers, wiring closets, and building fiber riser backbones, as well as to corporate offices and wireless hotspots, powering devices such as wireless access points.

"It is evident that more and more enterprises are installing 10GbE links in LAN backbones and data centers for high-speed server connectivity," said Val Oliva, director of product management for Foundry and a member of the Board of Directors for the Ethernet Alliance. "Since much of that wiring infrastructure is comprised of various connectivity mediums, we want to help enterprises with a simple upgrade path to 10GbE without having to completely rip-and-replace their existing wiring infrastructure. In participation with the Ethernet Alliance, Foundry will demonstrate support and interoperability for 10GBASE-LRM, 10GBASE-T, Backplane Ethernet, PoE plus and Data Center."

The Ethernet Alliance is a consortium of system and component vendors, industry experts, and university and government professionals who are committed to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. The consortium's mission is to promote industry awareness, acceptance, and advancement of technology and products based on both existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet standards and their management. As a founding member of the Alliance, Foundry Networks plays a key role in promoting the acceptance and reducing the time-to-market of Ethernet-based solutions by supporting the advancement of existing and emerging Ethernet technologies.

"The Ethernet Alliance's vision of becoming the industry voice for IEEE 802(r) Ethernet has become a success due to the support and commitment of members like Foundry Networks," said Brad Booth, president for the Ethernet Alliance. "As we celebrate our one-year anniversary at Interop Las Vegas, the Ethernet Alliance is proud to showcase the latest in IEEE 802 Ethernet technologies. Looking to the future, the Ethernet Alliance and its members look forward to continuing the advancement of Ethernet technologies."
