Reilly was founder, Chairman and CEO of PRIMEDIA Inc. (NYSE: PRM), a New York-based specialty media company he founded in 1989 in partnership with Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR). Reilly left PRIMEDIA in 2001 to partner with Providence Equity Partners. The partnership subsequently acquired F&W Publishing based in Cincinnati, Ohio in February 2002 and Krause Publications based in Iola, Wisconsin in July 2002. The F&W Companies were sold on August 2005 for $500 million.
Reilly has been a leader in media and publishing since he became President of Macmillan, Inc. in 1980. As President, Reilly was instrumental in guiding Macmillan to the greatest period of growth in its 50-plus-year history.
