MCLEAN, Va., May 24, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Timothy McKnight received the Information Security Executive (ISE) of the Year Mid-Atlantic Award 2007 for outstanding leadership in the field of information security and achievements of strategic initiatives at Northrop Grumman.

McKnight is vice president of Information Security and chief information security officer for Northrop Grumman. He is responsible for developing the strategy and vision of Northrop Grumman's global computer and network information security systems, defining company-wide policies for information security, and enhancing the security of Northrop Grumman's information technology (IT) products, services and infrastructures.

The ISE Mid-Atlantic Award honors exemplary achievement and excellence in risk management, data asset protection, regulatory compliance, privacy and network security.

McKnight was selected for the award based on his security leadership in the development of industry best practices, proposed legislation and educational institution programs. Among his many achievements, he has authored key strategies and goals that are a critical part of Northrop Grumman's long-range IT strategic plan. As part of these strategies and goals, McKnight has implemented an integrated and comprehensive lifecycle approach to information security at Northrop Grumman.

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, McKnight served as director of information security at BAE SYSTEMS North America, program manager in the corporate information security department at Cisco Systems, and special agent for infrastructure protection, corporate espionage and foreign counterintelligence with the FBI.

McKnight earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers College, New Brunswick, N.J. He is a certified information systems security professional and has completed training with the National Security Agency in the areas of information security assessment methodology, operating secure networks and advanced system security and exploitation.
