COSTA MESA, Calif., May 31, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today congratulated Bell Mobility on its ongoing commercial deployment of CDMA2000(r) 1xEV-DO Revision A, making the operator the first in Canada and the seventh operator globally to launch the advanced mobile broadband technology.

CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A offers average data throughputs of 600-1400 kbps with bursts up to 3.1 Mbps in the forward link, and average data throughputs of 350-500 kbps with bursts up to 1.8 Mbps in the reverse link, substantially lower latencies, greater bi-directional symmetry and advanced Quality of Service mechanisms.
With Rev. A, Bell Mobility's business subscribers can upload large data files and access the Internet and intranets on the go, as well as conduct video conferences wherever they are. Consumers can listen to and share the highest-quality stereophonic music, capture and share high-resolution photography and personal videos, and watch real-time television, video and mobile movies, directly on their phones or other mobile devices.
Rev. A also supports multimedia multicasting and delay sensitive services such as voice over IP (VoIP), Push-to-Multimedia (PTM), social multimedia networking, and rich 3D gaming with multiple players.
Globally, 32 operators have committed to launching or have already launched Rev. A. Within North America, these operators include Bell Mobility, Bermuda Digital Communications (Cellular One), IUSACELL, Leap Wireless, Pocket Communications, Sprint Nextel, TELUS, and Verizon Wireless.
