American Public University System's Parent Company Names Higher Education, Financial Management Experts to Board


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va., May 31, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- American Public Education Inc. -- parent company of distance learning provider American Public University System (www.apus.edu) -- has named long-time higher education and financial management experts J. Christopher Everett and F. David Fowler to its board of directors.

The University System includes American Military University (www.amuonline.com) and serves more than 20,000 civilian and military students worldwide.

Boston Jr., the University System's president and chief executive officer. "Their leadership will help us continue growing and ensure our academic programs remain among the best."

Everett is a business strategy and technology consultant. Previously, he held several leadership positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, an international public accounting firm. He was a partner, board member and member of the global leadership team. He also led various practice areas at the firm, including management consulting, worldwide e-business, and enterprise resource planning. He advised Global 500 organizations, including financial institutions, manufacturing corporations, high technology companies and others.

Recently, Everett was executive-in-residence at the Kogod School of Business at American University, where he taught graduate courses in technology and strategy. He has also presented on technology issues at the World Economic Forum. Everett serves on the boards of Ryan Building Group and Ideaca.

F. David Fowler was dean of the school of business of George Washington University. The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. recognized him as Educator of the Year.

Previously, he served as managing partner of KPMG's Washington, D.C. office. He held various leadership positions at this global audit, tax and advisory consulting firm, including serving on the board of directors, on the operating and strategic planning committees, and as chair of the KPMG Foundation. He also was managing partner for offices in Honolulu and in Jackson, Miss.

Fowler serves on the board of directors and is chair of the audit committee of Liquidity Services. He recently served on the board and was chair of the audit committee of MicroStrategy. He also served as board chair of the FBR mutual fund group. Fowler has served on the boards of civic and non-profits in the Washington, D.C. area.
