The Asian Festival at Penn's Landing is a unique opportunity to unite in the celebration of Asian heritage and experience the richness, diversity and ingenuity of the Asian American cultures with a day packed with authentic entertainment, activities and food. The goal of the annual Asian festival is to promote community building across ethnic lines by encouraging sensitivity and appreciation for each other.

Entertainment will begin with a performance from a Korean Drum troop, followed by a cultural dance performance from the Plum Blossom Dancers. There will be a performance from both a Peking Opera singer, as well as a Cantonese Opera singer. In addition to the traditional and line dances from the MeiLing dancers, the evolution of the Asian culture will intrigue the audience again with demonstrations of Chinese Kung Fu, Shuttlecock, and Chinese jump rope.

There will be several demonstrations and activities for anyone attending this free festival. Watch and learn Asian floral design, make a fortune cookie, learn about the origins of Asian languages and writing in a demonstration called Asian 101, and even learn how to do Origami! All activities celebrate the heritage and diversity of the Asian community and span cultural practices from Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Vendors will feature a wide selection of authentic Asian arts and crafts as well as clothing and jewelry. Shanghai Bazaar and Oriental Furniture will present a variety of Chinese crafts and merchandise for purchase, as well as Kramer & Yin, who will offer Cambodian crafts. There will also be a booth about Asian Health, presented by Kong & Company.

Cultural food booths will offer a variety of dishes indigenous to the Asian culture, including notable Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese restaurants.
