Michael Berry Biography to be Released

Reception and Book Signing On June 13th At the Arab American National Museum

DEARBORN, Mich., June 4, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The newly released biography, Michael Berry, will be launched officially at a special reception and book signing at the Arab American National Museum on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 6:00 p.m.

Michael Berry, prominent attorney, politician, public servant and Arab American community leader, and the author, Susan Giffin, will address hundreds of guests invited to the event.

"Michael Berry, the book, is a living legacy, because it gives readers a glimpse into how Michael Berry, the man, rose from abject poverty to achieve great success as an attorney, as chairman of the largest congressional district in America, and as chairman of the powerful Wayne County Road Commission," said author Susan Giffin. "His life has not been without setbacks and sorrow, but he has demonstrated dignity throughout any difficulties and set a sterling example for those who would seek to emulate him."

Michael Berry, an icon in Wayne County and a savvy politician, rose to chair the 16th Democratic Congressional District and was eventually appointed to the Wayne County Road Commission, which oversaw the vast network of roads in Detroit's home county, the automobile capital of the world. Under his 16-year chairmanship, the Detroit Metropolitan Airport was greatly expanded and became one of the top 10 airports in the United States. In 1974, Detroit's international terminal became known as the Michael Berry International Terminal.

During his 50-year career as a prominent lawyer and political activist, Michael Berry has counseled and advised political personalities ranging from city officials, state senators and governors to vice presidents and presidents of the United States. Michael Berry, still going strong at 87 years of age, continues to serve on political, humanitarian and socially conscience boards. His humanitarian efforts have spanned great distances from Dearborn to his ancestral land of Lebanon.

Michael Berry is the fascinating biography of the first Muslim attorney to practice law in the State of Michigan. In partnership with a diverse group of attorneys, who joined the firm on a handshake and stayed for many years, Michael Berry amassed many notable achievements and an equally impressive roster of awards and recognitions.

Susan Giffin, author and editor, has written or edited more than three dozen books. Prior to devoting her time to books, she spent 25 years as a public relations practitioner in Chicago, Denver, and Detroit.

David Communications, a Michigan based public relations and marketing firm specializing in multi-cultural communications, is coordinating the event.
