TietoEnator Corporation Stock Exchange Release 4 June 2007, 1.10 pm EET TietoEnator deepens its cooperation with Nokia Siemens Networks by incorporating parts of its Finnish R&D operations for mobile networks. According to the agreement, TietoEnator will take over the R&D responsibilities for certain parts of Nokia Siemens Networks' product portfolio. As a result, approximately 230 employees will be transferred to TietoEnator Telecom & Media. The closing of the transaction is anticipated to take place by the end of June 2007. Ari Vanhanen, President, TietoEnator Telecom & Media said: "We are delighted by the trust that Nokia Siemens Networks shows in TietoEnator. The agreement gives us even further responsibilities for some of Nokia Siemens Networks' products, which proves that our R&D On-demand concept benefits our customers and strengthens TietoEnator's leading position in R&D Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) for the telecom sector." Nokia Siemens Networks, the telecommunications infrastructure venture of Nokia and Siemens, is one of TietoEnator's top ten customers. TietoEnator has supplied Nokia with R&D services for its telecom network infrastructure since 2001 and for Siemens since 1997. The operations that are being transferred to TietoEnator focus on areas including IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) and Mobile Intelligent Networks (IN). In the future, Nokia Siemens Networks will need to generate projects in these areas to be carried out by TietoEnator, but the transferred units will also take on assignments from other Network Equipment Providers (NEP). Synergies with TietoEnator's other undertakings in R&D services are expected to generate further revenues and allow full utilization of resources. Mika Vehviläinen, Chief Operating Officer of Nokia Siemens Networks, said:"Nokia and Siemens have successfully partnered with TietoEnator over the recent years. This agreement is good for TietoEnator and for the employees of Nokia Siemens Networks." Personnel are transferred from the Service Core & Applications and Operations and Business Software Business Units, as well as from Research, Technology and Platforms."Nokia Siemens Networks' customer relationships will not be affected by the move. In fact, customers will reap the benefits as this agreement strengthens our capabilities to provide them with high quality software and products," Vehviläinen added.
