First Horizon Home Loans Regional President Named Father of the Year

WASHINGTON, June 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Larry Rice, president of First Horizon Home Loans Mid-Atlantic region, will be honored this evening for his accomplishments in the community and as a father. The Father's Day Council of Washington, D.C., has named Rice, a 20-year veteran of First Horizon and father of twins, a 2007 Father of the Year.

In addition to his work as a mortgage banker for First Horizon, Rice, who is a Washington D.C., native, serves the community in a number of ways, focusing primarily on affordable housing in Fairfax County. However, it's Rice's role as father to 6-year-old twins Olivia and Larry Albert that he finds most rewarding.

"Being named a Father of the Year is incredibly humbling. Nothing brings me more joy, or more challenges, than fatherhood," said Rice. "I'm humbled that my attempt to be a great friend, teacher and motivator to my kids is being recognized. My hope is that Olivia and L.A. will take to heart the spirit of service my wife Lisa and I have tried to impress upon them and eventually become passionate servants of this great community."

The Father's Day Council will recognize Rice along with three other Father of the Year honorees at a ceremony this evening at The Ritz-Carlton. The proceeds from the event will benefit the American Diabetes Association, an organization committed to preventing and curing diabetes and to improving the lives of the millions battling the disease.
