Infinera Introduces New Chassis to Address Cable, Other Markets

New MTC Broadens Applications for Infinera DTN

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Infinera (Nasdaq:INFN) will unveil next week the Infinera MTC, a new 19-inch chassis option for the Infinera DTN, enabling Infinera to offer a solution tailored for the cable market, the Internet Service Provider market, and the research and education market, where many customers prefer a 19-inch solution to the traditional 23-inch carrier class solution being offered today.

The Infinera DTN with the MTC option will offer the same 400 Gigabits/second (Gb/s) capacity in a single chassis as the existing Infinera DTN chassis. The Infinera DTN with the MTC option is designed to include all the advanced features that Infinera believes have made the Infinera DTN an attractive solution for cable providers, such as high-density Gigabit Ethernet transport, "Digital ROADM" flexibility and ease-of-use, and multicast capability.

The cable market has seen significant growth in the last two years, as cable service providers worldwide have invested in network infrastructure to accommodate fast-growing Internet traffic and support triple-play service offerings.

"Cable operators have already been a good market for Infinera," said Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics. "This new chassis option will suit the needs of many central offices and data centers, and open up more market segments for Infinera's systems based on photonic integration."

"We believe that Infinera's Digital Optical Networks architecture based on large-scale photonic integration is an ideal fit for service providers serving the needs of the millions of consumers and businesses with broadband pipes," said Chris Liou, Infinera Vice President for Product Management. "By making the MTC option available, we believe that we will be able to meet the needs of even more cable companies with a highly scalable solution that is ideal for the mix of video, data, and voice services cable companies are offering."
