Sierra Gold Corporation Receives Positive Gold Assay Results from Hard Rock Formation

TORONTO, June 15, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Sierra Gold Corporation (OTC:SGCP) has just received gold assay results from its April 2007 chip samples tested by SGS Laboratories in Toronto, Canada. Samples were taken from the hard rock portion of the property. Assay results for gold were approximately .5 oz/ton (15 grams/ton).

Sierra Gold's geological team will continue to investigate and further explore the hard rock formation. The team will plan a program to more clearly define and develop the property, which will include a drill program in conjunction with trenching.

The greenstone belt of West Africa has had a long history of gold mining and prospecting. The region has been one of the fastest gold producing areas worldwide. Sierra Leone's neighbours, Ghana and Mali, are the second and third largest gold producers in all of Africa.

Sierra Gold is engaged in the exploration and development of gold and diamond properties in West Africa. The company will continue to conduct extensive research and development of high quality mineral exploration projects.
