Verso Adds ASR-Based Routing and Alarming and ENUM Support to MetroNet VoIP Overlay and Clarent Class 4 Solutions

New Features Offer Operational Efficiencies and Cost Savings

ATLANTA, June 19, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Verso Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRSO), a leading provider of next generation network solutions, announced today availability of two significant capabilities to its MetroNet VoIP Overlay and Clarent(r) Class 4 solutions: ASR-based routing and alarming and the Electronic Number Mapping System (ENUM).

ASR-based routing and alarming enables providers to choose the highest quality routes for every call, which results in increased call completion rates, revenues and profits. ENUM is a number mapping method that enhances the convergence of IP networks with the Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) by offering the capability to complete calls that are targeted to the legacy TDM network through lower cost IP based infrastructure. This capability results in significant operational and cost savings to Verso's customers.

"New features such as these offer additional operational efficiencies and cost savings for network operators," said Chris Brazdziunas, Chief Architect, Verso Technologies. "Verso's MetroNet Overlay offers our customers VoBB over wireless broadband networks such as WiMAX, as well as routing and management of carrier interconnects. The advanced routing capabilities introduced today increases the value proposition of the MetroNet VoIP Overlay."

ASR-based routing and alarming is achieved by evaluating the call completion rate of each route in real-time on a call-by-call basis. The ASR data is processed and checked against provisioned threshold values on a route or carrier basis in order to issue or clear SNMP alarms.

ENUM is a standards-based protocol in which numbers can be routed through IP-based architectures such as IMS using DNS architecture. An ENUM server determines where to route a call in a partner's network directly using VoIP rather than sending the call through the PSTN.
