A Marel hf subsidiary has purchased the distribution and service divisions of Maritech in Norway from AKVA Group ASA. In future, Marel Food Systems will handle distribution of group products in Norway. Maritech has been the agent for Marel Food Systems in Norway for 20 years, playing a large role in creating a strong market position for the company's products there. Nineteen employees of Maritech's distribution division that have been involved in sales and services of Marel Food System products will continue working. Also included in the acquisition are liquid assets that have been part of operations. Marel Food Systems will take over operations on 1 September 2007. The acquisition is part of the company's new strategy to own all distribution and sales companies. Currently, Marel Food Systems operates 24 sales and distribution operations worldwide. The purchase will have an insignificant impact on the company's turnover.
