Duke University and Enlyten, Inc. Announce Electrolyte Strip Studies

AMHERST, N.Y., June 27, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- HealthSport, Inc. (OTCBB:HSPO), a fully integrated developer, manufacturer and marketer of branded nutritional supplements in a one-of-a-kind edible film strip delivery system, announced today its wholly owned-subsidiary, Enlyten, Inc., has reached an agreement with Duke University to develop a clinical study and research program of the Company's Enlyten(tm) SportStrips(tm), an edible thin film strip that delivers electrolytes to the body through buccal absorption.

Enlyten SportStrips replace the electrolytes lost during vigorous workouts through a patented delivery system. This mode of absorption is very different from all electrolyte delivery predecessors. When placed between the cheek and gum, gastric absorption is bypassed speeding higher levels of electrolytes directly into the bloodstream. Not only does it dramatically improve hydration on a cellular level, but it also helps athletes to avoid the problems caused by excessive fluid consumption which is often associated with sports drinks. Known scientifically to be an extremely fast and efficient way to deliver drugs into the bloodstream, buccal absorption bypasses the inherent drawbacks of gastric absorption, an Achilles heel for many athletes who struggle with fatigue, cramping and hydration issues.

The study, which will be done in a number of phases conducted over the next two years, will determine the effectiveness of the electrolyte strips, as well as overall opinion of athletes using the product. The studies will be completed in the Coach Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory within Duke Sports Medicine and will use surveys and test human subjects to determine the utility, palatability, and functionality of the product. The studies will also test electrolytes and their relationship to athletic performance, as well as their rate of absorption. Researchers will conduct tests involving various delivery methods as controls, including sports drinks and electrolyte strips.

"We are honored to be working with Duke University and its esteemed staff in conducting clinical surveys and research on our Enlyten SportStrips," said Dan Kelly, President of HealthSport, Inc. "We have the utmost respect for the university and its research capabilities. The research results that have been released from the University thus far have been extraordinary, and they have made many breakthroughs. This partnership will enable us to better understand athletes on all levels and how the electrolytes interact with their bodies as they use the Enlyten SportStrips. With the variety of electrolyte replenishment products on the market now, we feel it is important to provide as much scientific evidence as possible that shows our product will keep athletes replenished during vigorous workouts, help them get the most out of the training, and maximize their performance levels."

"Duke Sports Medicine is pleased to have the opportunity to further study a product which has the potential to change the way we view electrolyte replenishment. This product has already proven to be a fast, efficient, and convenient method for delivering electrolytes to athletes. These basic science studies will enable us to better understand the role of electrolyte imbalance in endurance which could be also be related to workplace fatigue. Significantly, a major cause of death in Third world countries is electrolyte balance associated with disease. Future research plans using HealthSport's thin multilayer strip technology may well focus on applications in these areas using data gained from the studies of athletes," stated Duke's Senior Research Associate, Anthony Seaber. Serving as the Director of the Orthopedic Research Laboratories, Mr. Seaber has extensive experience in the field of scientific research, having published over 250 scientific articles in major medical journals.
