A Family's Struggle and Journey From ADD to Chemical ADDiction -- Author Barbara Mulloy-Robbins Shares Her Devastating True Account of Her Two Sons Undiagnosed With ADD and Their Chemical Addiction

POMPTON LAKES, N.J., July 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- There may be more to troubled children than what meets the eye. Their unruly, inattentive "daredevil and daydreamer" behavior may be symptoms to a disorder which if untreated can lead to devastating results. Author Barbara Mulloy-Robbins presents A Mother's Diary, a true story based on memoir and research of a mother's pioneering journey to find treatment for her two sons who struggled with the untreated diagnosis and damaging effects of ADHD and chemical addiction.

A Mother's Diary is an insightful and heartwarming blend of memoir and research. As a mother, Barbara sifts through the past attempting to understand the devastating connection between ADD and chemical addiction as it played out in the life and death of her two sons. Both sons went untreated as children with ADD. As adolescents and adults, they struggled to normalize their internal world with alcohol and drugs. It speaks from the heart of their struggles with the undiagnosed and untreated disorder of ADD and their attempts to self-medicate to normalize their turbulent minds. The underlying condition of ADD tightened the grip of addiction.

With great honesty and sensitivity, A Mother's Diary reaches out to parents locked in a tangle of circumstances that seems at times beyond their control and understanding. It not only gives solace to those parents who have loved troubled children and perhaps lost them to an undetected dual diagnosis, but also serves as a wake-up call to parents who suspect that the symptoms manifested in their children's unruly, inattentive and risk-taking behavior is something other than what society considers normal. It explores the possibility of finding meaning and joy in one's own life despite circumstances that one cannot control.

A Mother's Diary is now available for your reading pleasure. It is a true story based on the author's experience and tells not only of her sons' journey but also of hers as a fellow traveler linked to them through co-dependency and mother-child bonding. It is about dealing with the unimaginable, including the untimely death of two sons, and ultimately about accepting and healing.
