Dutch transport group uses Scania on-board computers to boost efficiency

The FRITOM transport group is equipping 400 of the trucks in its fleet of
different makes with Scania on-board computers. With Scania Interactor 300 as
its common platform, the company will achieve efficient communication and
follow-up of its transport assignments.

FRITOM is one of the 25 largest transport companies in the Netherlands. Its
operations are divided into eleven subsidiaries using a variety of different
business processes and requiring sophisticated management of extensive
information flows.

Scania was selected as the supplier since its order handling (Order Support) and
driver administration (Driver Log) tools provide the best configuration
potential with FRITOM's other IT systems for information exchange between its
various companies and their vehicles − also based on good results from extensive
hardware testing.

Fleet management is an integral part of Scania's comprehensive service offering,
supporting the driver as well as managing the transport operation and the
vehicle fleet.

The in-vehicle Scania Interactor 300 computer is a tool for the professional
user and is suitable for a majority of normal logistics applications. It
includes a sturdy computer with a 6.3-inch colour touch screen fitted on the
instrument panel. It can be installed in Scania trucks and in trucks of other
makes that meet the FMS standard (a standard protocol for fleet management
systems agreed upon by manufacturers).

Scania Order Support is an application that can easily be integrated into most
modern transport planning systems. Transport assignments can be sent to the
vehicles directly from the customer's existing transport management system.
Order status is updated continuously and automatically transmitted to the office
in real time. This service speeds up invoicing and is an efficient way of
handling work orders.

Scania Driver Log makes it easy for the driver to keep track of activities and
work times, and its precise activity reports are an excellent basis for wage
calculations and operational analysis. Customers can choose to integrate Scania
Driver Log into their already existing administration systems or to access it
via the Scania Fleet Management Internet portal.
