IT - GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange - FIX Specification version 2.0.0 draft available for review (32/07)

A draft version of the GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange – FIX Specification, version 2.0.0, is now available on the Start-page on the member extranet. It is also attached to this IT Notice.

GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange will replace the current trading interfaces (XTP and Omnet) when the Nordic Exchange migrates from the current trading environment (SAXESS and CLICK) to GENIUM, the new exchange technologies from OMX. The current trading interfaces will remain in use during a transition period. More information regarding the coming implementation will be communicated by the end of August.

GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange – FIX Specification, version 2.0.0, will cover enhanced market data as well as equity and derivatives trading. This draft version includes basic trading functionality and market data. A draft version covering the full scope and including a separate FAST specification, will be delivered later during the fall 2007.

The FIX Specification version 2.0.0 draft is based on version 1.0.5 made available to market data customers on May 28th 2007 when OMX announced a low latency market data service for equity and related instruments. The specification includes all functionality previously described and extends the functionality into new areas.

The low latency market data service for equities and related instruments will be launched November 12, 2007. The interface will be based on the previously published FIX and FAST specifications (versions 1.0.5 and 1.0.2 respectively).

This draft of the FIX Specification, version 2.0.0, covers the following functionality; The FIX Transport (Session) Layer, Single and General Order Handling, Reporting Privately Negotiated Trades, Trade Confirmation and Management, Market Data, and Reference Data.

The coming draft version will extend the coverage to the following areas; Multileg Orders, Contingent (Linked) Orders, Continuous and General Quote Handling, Quote Negotiation, Indication of Interest (IOI), Request for One-Sided Auction, and News Management. Previously disclosed functionality will be refined. For instance, Market Data will contain calculated index values.

We hereby invite you to read and review this draft specification and come back to us if you have comments or suggestions. Contact email addresses can be found at the end of this document.

During the fall we will come back with updated versions of the protocol specifications and a first version of a Frequently Asked Question document. OMX Nordic Exchange will also hold a road show further presenting the GENIUM FIX project and the protocol. More detailed information will follow.
