Delta's 'Dream Flight' Carries Aviation Students to Air Force Museum

Eighth annual flight visits U.S. Air Force site in Dayton, Ohio

ATLANTA, July 25, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) and the Organization of Black Airline Pilots (OBAP) celebrate the eighth annual 'Dream Flight' with a journey to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

Delta co-sponsors OBAP's Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp, three, week-long summer programs for local Atlanta youth, ages 14 to 18, who have an interest in pursuing careers in aviation. The intensive camp offers students aviation history, aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation and flight simulator orientation taught by qualified flight instructors. As part of the third week of training, students are transported on a day-long field trip to one of several aviation facilities around the country. Past trips have included visits to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. The National Museum of the United States Air Force is the oldest military aviation museum in the world.

"Delta is extremely proud to continue its tradition of educating and training future aviators," said Cherie Caldwell, Delta's managing director - Global Diversity. "Today's 'Dream Flight' to Dayton reaffirms Delta's investment in opening career opportunities in our communities."

As a special surprise, the 120 students will be flown to Dayton on Delta's signature Boeing 757 "Hank Aaron 755." Delta recently dedicated the aircraft to Aaron honoring his historic achievements in baseball and the community. Independently, Aaron's foundation, "Chasing the Dream," sponsors several aviation career enrichment scholarships.
