I Can't Believe I'm Still Single: From Portland to Portland

NEW YORK, July 31, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Eric Schaeffer, filmmaker/actor, released his latest artistic endeavor, a memoir entitled: I Can't Believe I'm Still Single -- Sane, slightly neurotic (but in a sane way) filmmaker into yoga, bad reality TV, too much chocolate, and a little kinky sex seeks smart, emotionally evolved...oh hell, at this point anyone who'll let me watch football. (336 pages trade paperback, original $14.95, ISBN: 1-5658-337-0)

The book chronicles his life and relationships for the past 45 years. I Can't Believe I'm Still Single is a sometimes raunchy, sometimes poignant, and always honest account of a semi-famous man's attempts at love -- from Eric's first schoolboy failure to impress the pretty girl in class to his doomed relationship with a member of the Brat Pack and later his plot to rig the ranking system of an online dating site; even his dalliances with sex workers and his drug-food-sex and sports binges -- all windows into the rarely seen psyche and behavior of the "regular guy." In the end, after all the laughter and pain, Schaeffer is still somewhat skeptical about his bachelor status.

To promote the book, Schaeffer will be starting a nationwide book tour in late July:

"As an American man I was always told 'when I built it she will come.' There would be a football stadium of available women when I wanted to settle down. I'm ready, and I'm finding that's not the case. The book chronicles my search for my big true love," explains Schaeffer.

In addition to the book release, Schaeffer will also be filming his book tour as part of his latest film project, a documentary based on people finding and keeping love. Schaeffer has set up six dates in five of the cities he will be doing signings in and will film those dates, interview those around him and eventually end up back in New York City to interview those closest to him about why they think he is still single. The film is due to be completed in early 2008.
