Vaisala Oyj Stock exchange release, 1 August 2007 at 10:00

Vaisala has won a contract with the Meteorological Service Canada
(PWGSC) for the modernization of Canada's synoptic upper-air
observation network. The contract term is ten years, and estimated
value 27 million USD. The contract covers 35 sounding systems and
corresponding services as well as radiosonde supply for ten years. It
also includes options for further deliveries and support services.
The deliveries start in October 2007.

Meteorological Service Canada's current network is based on an older
model of Vaisala sounding system and radiosondes, delivered in early
1990's.

Synoptic observations include upper-air measurements of temperature,
humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction. These measurements are
taken simultaneously at fixed, scheduled times at a large number of
locations around the world. The data obtained through these
measurements is used for weather forecasts, warnings and research
purposes.
