MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 8, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight integrated technology systems and solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense and Air Force next week at the 2007 Air Force Information Technology Conference (AFITC).
The conference will take place Aug. 13-16 at the campus of Auburn University Montgomery. Northrop Grumman will be located at booth 400.
On Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m., Northrop Grumman will make a $2,000 donation to the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Montgomery chapter Education Foundation. The foundation provides opportunities and scholarships for students pursuing careers in the science and technology fields. The presentation will take place at the Embassy Suites Montgomery Hotel and Conference Center.

To support the AFITC theme of "Global Effects Through Integrated Information," Northrop Grumman will showcase information technology capabilities that provide enterprise-wide efficiency for defense and military operations.
Northrop Grumman and its teammates will demonstrate network-centric capabilities that are central to the U.S. Air Force Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) program. NETCENTS is a five-year, $9-billion, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity program that will provide the U.S. Air Force, Defense Department, and other federal government agencies with information technology solutions and services, including network engineering, software development, integration, information storage and management, security and telephone services, and voice, video and data communications products.
The company will display the Enhanced Maintenance Operations Center (EMOC) it developed for the Air Force. The EMOC software solution consolidates the myriad databases used around the Air Force to track the status of the aircraft assigned to each wing and can be customized for each installation.
Northrop Grumman will also demonstrate its work on several Defense Department and Air Force contracts:
-- Biometric Identification System for Access (BISA) -- This Defense
Department multi-modal biometrics force protection initiative
protects the safety and welfare of military and civilian employees
at military installations in combat areas worldwide. Working in
conjunction with existing biometrics databases, BISA collects and
evaluates fingerprint and other biometric data from non-screened
personnel requesting access to U.S.-controlled military bases.
Cleared applicants receive biometrically-enabled identification
cards (smart cards) that must be used every time they enter a
U.S.-controlled facility.
-- Standard Asset Tracking System (SATS) -- This Air Force supply
system uses automatic information technology to track assets
moving through the supply chain. SATS is currently installed at
more than 90 Air Force facilities worldwide.
-- Contracting Business Intelligence Service (CBIS) -- CBIS is a
Web-based repository of Air Force contracting information that
improves enterprise-wide access to information.
