SAN DIEGO, Aug. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- ArtWalk on the Bay, an arts festival celebrating original works of art in an open-air gallery setting, will take place at Embarcadero Marina Park North in San Diego on September 8 and 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.
This free event features more than 150 artists who will display their original work for exhibition and sale, including painting, sculpture, glasswork, photography and music. In its second year, ArtWalk on the Bay is adjacent to San Diego's well-known tourist destination, Seaport Village, and offers a convenient location for visitors and locals alike.
"This free event is accessible to all San Diegans and visitors to the region, and provides an opportunity to see hundreds of great works of art, performing arts and interactive activities for families to get inspired," said Sandi Cottrell, managing director of ArtWalk. ArtWalk on the Bay 2007 highlights:
Arte de Mexico -- Presented by Consulado General de Mexico and the Mexican Cultural Institute, this popular attraction features famed and up-and-coming artists throughout Mexico.
KidsWalk and "Kite Koloring" -- Local art organizations will team up to engage children with an interactive experience where they can create their own unique artwork. This year will feature Kite Koloring, a new event where children can decorate kites and fly them in a group "kite fly" in the park, then donate their creations to children at local charities, Becky's House and The Polinsky Center for Children.
