Buffalo Technology Adds Easy Remote Access to Its TeraStation Live NAS Device

The Product's New Web Access Feature Allows for Easy and Instant Access to Digital Content Without the Need for Software

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions, today announced its new Web Access feature is now available with its high-performance TeraStation Live NAS devices, which are available in capacities of 1TB (HS-DH1.0TGL/R5), 2TB (HS-DH2.0TGL/R5) and 3TB (HS-DH3.0TGL/R5). Web Access allows consumers to effortlessly access and share digital files such as precious photos, home videos and music at any time from anywhere in the world.

With Web Access, users can instantly gain access to content stored on the TeraStation Live from any web browser interface. The device includes its own dynamic DNS server so users simply log onto www.buffaloNAS.com, enter their user name and instantly have access to all of their files. Additionally, they can access their device by going to www.buffaloNAS.com/theirusername. Because there is no need to download software, set-up is a breeze. Web Access uses UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and requires no firewall configuration for seamless communication between the TeraStation Live and any web browser. And, unlike competing remote access technologies, there are no recurring service fees.

"Consumers are increasing the amount of digital content in their lives, and they want to be able to access that content at any given time from any given location," said Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Buffalo. "The ease of the Web Access feature combined with the simplicity of the TeraStation Live provides an effortless solution to meet these demands."

The TeraStation Live also has the ability to be used as an iTunes(tm) server, which allows iTunes 7 software to access music stored on the device. Because the Web Access feature includes MP3 support, music can be enjoyed from any location, whether at home or on the road. It also includes DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) support so it can seamlessly connect to and communicate with any DLNA enabled CE device. It includes four operational modes: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5. The TeraStation Live is both Windows(tm) and Macintosh(tm) compatible with two additional USB 2.0 ports. For enhanced performance, it also provides an Auto- MDIX10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet Port and Gigabit Jumbo Frame Support.
