Schatz Nobel Izard P.C. Announces Class Action Lawsuit Against Qiao Xing Universal Telephone, Inc.

HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The law firm of Schatz Nobel Izard P.C., which has significant experience representing investors in prosecuting claims of securities fraud, announces that a lawsuit seeking class action status has been filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of all persons who purchased the publicly traded securities of Qiao Xing Universal Telephone, Inc. ("Xing") (Nasdaq:XING) between June 30, 2004 and July 16, 2007, inclusive (the "Class Period").

The Complaint charges that Xing and certain of its officers and directors violated federal securities laws by issuing false and misleading statements. Specifically, before the opening of trading, Xing disclosed, among other things, that in connection with the audit of the financial statements of a Company subsidiary, certain misstatements for the years 2005, 2004 and 2003 were identified that were not initially detected through the Company's internal control over financial reporting and that, as a result, management has decided to restate the Company's consolidated financial statements for the years ended December 31, 2005, 2004 and 2003. As further alleged, during the Class Period, Xing overstated its reported net income for the years ended December 31, 2005 and 2004 by 2% and 93%, respectively, and for the year ended December 31, 2003, Xing understated its reported net loss by 210%.

On July 17, 2007, Xing filed its annual report for the year ended December 31, 2006 on Form 20-F with the SEC that stated that the misstatements in the financial statements resulted from certain deficiencies in the Company's system of internal controls over financial reporting. On this news, the price of Xing stock declined approximately 21% to close at $11.04 per share.

If you are a member of the class, you may, no later than October 8, 2007, request that the Court appoint you as lead plaintiff of the class. A lead plaintiff is a class member that acts on behalf of other class members in directing the litigation. Although your ability to share in any recovery is not affected by the decision whether or not to seek appointment as a lead plaintiff, lead plaintiffs make important decisions which could affect the overall recovery for class members, including decisions concerning settlement. The securities laws require the Court to consider the class member(s) with the largest financial interest as presumptively the most adequate lead plaintiff(s).
