Studsvik and JV team selected Preferred Bidder for the UK Low Level Waste Repository

A consortium in which Studsvik has a minority interest has been
selected by the NDA as the preferred bidder to manage the UK Low
Level Waste Repository. Detailed negotiations will now follow aiming
at finalising a contract with an expected duration of at least five
years. The consortium is led by Washington Group International (NYSE:
WNG).
Studsvik is one of four teaming participants in a joint venture led
by Washington Group International (NYSE: WNG). The consortium has
been selected to negotiate with the UK Nuclear Decommissioning
Authority (NDA) to operate the United Kingdom's national low level
nuclear waste repository located in West Cumbria in the north of
England.

- This is a highly strategic contract that opens further
opportunities in the growing UK NDA-market. Our participation in the
preferred bidder consortium is excellent confirmation that Studsvik
is recognized as one of the market leaders in the nuclear
decommissioning and waste management industries, says Magnus Groth,
President and CEO of Studsvik.

The bid concerns a contract to manage the LLWR and to establish an
effective framework for the disposal of low level nuclear waste
across the UK. The negotiations aim at awarding a contract in October
2007 with an initial period of 5 years with further extensions up to
a total of 17 years. The total contract value is estimated to be in
the range of GBP 200-500 million over the period, depending on final
scope and duration. Studsvik has a minority interest in the
consortium equal to 15 per cent.

Studsvik will bring to the consortium its considerable expertise
within waste management as the consortium develops a UK-wide low
level waste solution. The aim is to manage the increased levels of
waste expected from the NDA's planned decommissioning of obsolete
nuclear facilities. The other two minority teaming participants of
the consortium are AREVA NC and Serco Assurance.
