Emulex Gains Market Share in Fibre Channel HBA and Blade Server Mezzanine Card Segments

Company's HBA Market Share Grows Four Times Faster Than Nearest Competitor According to Dell'Oro Group's Second Quarter SAN Infrastructure Market Report

COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that it grew its share of the worldwide market for Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBA) by four percentage points during the second calendar quarter, marking a growth rate that is four times faster than its nearest competitor, according to Dell'Oro Group's second quarter SAN Infrastructure market analysis report. The Dell'Oro report also highlights Emulex's strong growth in blade server mezzanine cards and overall port shipments.

"Last year we set out to increase our overall market share by focusing on the fast-growing virtualized server and blade server segments. This report validates the success of our efforts, which included time-to-market leadership for our 4Gb/s product family, new OEM design wins, and expansion of our sales and marketing programs," said Jim McCluney, president and CEO, Emulex Corp. "With Emulex's recent 8Gb/s product announcement, Emulex is well-positioned for next generation design wins and to continue capturing incremental market share."

According to the report, Emulex has captured 40 percent of the total worldwide HBA market, up from 36 percent a year ago. Additionally, Emulex increased its share of the blade server mezzanine card market to 15 percent, an increase of six percentage points sequentially and in the 4Gb/s blade server mezzanine card market Emulex achieved 25 percent market share in the second quarter.
