Bob Evans Restaurants Offer Free Hand-Washing Reminders to Schools, Day Cares, Organizations

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Bob Evans Restaurants (Nasdaq:BOBE) are offering free hand-washing reminders to schools, day care centers, churches and other organizations and businesses throughout September's National Food Safety Education Month. The vinyl hand-washing "clings" adhere to rest room mirrors to remind the public of the need to wash hands with warm water and soap for 20 seconds to remove bacteria.

The clings display a catchy slogan and verse of the children's classic song "Old MacDonald had a Farm" along with a reminder to sing the song while washing hands in order to wash for the proper length of time. The clings are available free of charge to organizations by visiting any one of Bob Evans 579 restaurants in 18 states.

Schools and organizations may request one cling per rest room mirror. Supplies are limited. For more information or to locate the nearest Bob Evans Restaurant, visit www.bobevans.com/handwashing.

"Many health experts agree that one of the best ways to prevent illness and protect health is by using proper hand-washing techniques," said Bob Evans Farms spokesperson Jamie Chabra. "Bob Evans recognizes the importance of reinforcing this information with the public and we have found that organizations appreciate the clings as a hand-washing reminder."

In the past three years, Bob Evans has distributed more than 150,000 hand-washing clings. In addition to distributing the clings, all 579 Bob Evans Restaurants across 18 states will display the hand-washing clings on their rest room mirrors. "We expect to reach hundreds of thousands of our customers in our own restaurants with this important safety message as well," said Chabra.

Bob Evans was recently recognized as a "Friend of Food Safety Education" by the Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE). The designation recognizes Bob Evans as among a donor group of companies who support the Partnership's mission of educating the public about safe food handling practices. PFSE is a not-for-profit organization that unites industry associations; professional societies in food science, nutrition and health; consumer groups; and the U.S. government to educate the public about safe food handling.
